Hi, I took a trip to orwells today as not been there before. Was suprised at the amount if bikes there, inside and out.

They offered me a good trade in price for my drz400sm so am thinking of trading it in. Was just wondering what people thought of some of these options as a second bike for doing a few miles through town to work, maybe a trip around the Norfolk coast and possibly a trip to Matlock to see some friends. And of course some rides out with eoeb.

Was recommended:
Suzuki gladius
Suzuki sv650s
Suzuki gsx650f
yamaha xj6 diversion

Could people give me some thoughts on these please? I have sat on all of them and have taken the Gladius out for a test ride and enjoyed it, but low pegs and no screen worry me a bit, felt comfortable though.

I have looked on MCN reviews website but some are based on older models.

Thank you, it's a big decision and I'm the sort if person who likes to know as many details as possible before making a decision.

If people have an opinion on other bikes, please let me know.

Thank you.

I've only ridden the GSX650F on your list and as its nearly the same as a 650 Bandit (which was my last bike) i would highly recommend it. Its very comfy for long distance and plenty of room for luggage. I think you just need to try out as many bikes as you can till you find the one that's right for you.
When i was looking for my last new bike i tested five bikes in one day lol

Where is the best place to test bikes, or are all shops fine?

CJ Balls throw the keys at you, and NO pressure when you get back.

Thanx, will do. I'm leaning towards the Suzuki gsx650f as I've read some reviews and and watched some video reviews on YouTube. Orwell had 2 there today, but think one went while I was there.

There is so much choice it blows your mind. Only you can make the decision and what you like others will scorn, so dont give a toss what others say, listen to advice and make up your own mind. What suits you wont suit me or many others. Just about all dealers will let you take the demo bikes out for a test ride. Only one I suggest to stay away from is Lings Honda in Lowestoft, C J Ball has a Suzuki dealership in Hales (between Norwich and Beccles just off the A146). Very decent people won't mess you about.

I was going to visit lings next week as they have a gsx650f with a top box, though it might save some money later. Thanx for advice on getting what I want. Lings, Greens and Cj ball are closest to me.

Do you find shops will do about the same trade in prices? Orwells said I would get more if I sold my drz privatly but not sure I want the hassle if people wanting to thrash my drz for a test ride, it's too good for that.

Ok, thanx for the advice. It's either cj balls or orwells really then. Cj ball is closer so will give them a call next week and see if they will match orwells trade in price if they have something I like, if not, orwells it is. I must say both shops have seemed very good and new rider friendly.
