the inaugural Billing Bike Fest, held at Northamptonshire’s Billing
Aquadrome on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July 2011. Billing Bike
Fest brings together motorbike clubs from all over the UK and Europe
to create the biggest bike club event in the event calendar.

The main arena will play host to motorcycle parades from the attending
clubs as well as the daring Ural Russian Motorcycle and Sidecar

First up is Britain’s Got Talent’s Mr Remarkable, best known for
his attempts to blow up and burst hot water bottles on the ITV show.
Then there’s Sean Shannon, the World’s fastest talker, and if our
compere can get a word in, there’s John Evans, who balances
motorcycles and even a mini on his head! Completing the line up is
World Champion beer drinker and eater Peter Dowesdall.

There’s also plenty of live music with rock bands Mental Men and
Hooker playing on site while punk group Lights Out and indie band
Empire will play the Willow Bar. In the Kingfisher Bar, acoustic rock
covers band The Great Divide will be playing on Saturday night. Make a
So Norfolk Constabulary Roads Policing Department, Norfolk County Council Casualty Reduction Section and the Safety Camera Partnership will be launching Operation Hawk for the fourth year.

They aim to reduce motorcycle accidents on Norfolks roads through advice, education and, when necessary, enforcement. In their fight to battle to reduce motorcycle casualties they’ll be using an undercover bike and marked vans. Police officers will visit popular motorcycle routes across Norfolk and attend motorcycle events to put over the message of “safe riding”. They will also be operating on weekends and evenings from April until September.

It does make you wonder out of the 10 motorcyclists killed, 83 riders seriously injured, 202 slightly injured, how many of these were teenage moped riders tearing up the local town centre with no gloves, boots or other protective equipment on their hairdryer mopeds?

Apparently, the undercover bikes to look out for is an unliveried black Honda VTR and dark coloured Yamaha FJR 1300 fitted with a camera in the fairing, recording equipment in the panniers, blues on the mirror stems and the rider wearing normal dark clothing and a plain white helmet. He wears no hi-visibility gear and no Police logos on the clothing. No need to worry about the unliveried undercover Yamaha R1, the rumour goes they wrote that off by hitting a truck.

Some question the quality of these items given the Lidl reputation for cheap items, but others love the yearly event and highly recomend some items. In my opinion you’d be a brave man to stick your head in one of their £39.99 flip up helmets, but I can however vouch for the quality of the £14.99 waterproof rain suit. It was just what I needed to keep me dry on my round the UK trip.

Items include:

Men’s Leather Motorcycle Boots - £ 29.99 Per Pair

Men’s Motorcycle Jacket – £69.99

Men’s Leather Biker Boots – £24.99

Motorcycle Gloves – £12.99

Men’s Waterproof Motorcycle Suit – £14.99

Motorcycle Socks – £3.49

Men’s Motorcycle Trousers - £59.99

Flip-up Helmet - £39.99

Ladies’ Waterproof Motorcycle Suit – £14.99
